Garland Center cited for design excellence

Knowles Blunck Architecture is pleased to announce that the Garland Center, at the University of Arkansas, has been awarded a citation from American School & University Magazine for outstanding parking design. Garland Center was recognized by the jury as being “Sensitive to pedestrian traffic, and a well-organized mixed-use facility.”

Garland Center is a fully integrated development consisting of a 1600 car parking garage, 32,000sf university bookstore, and 20,000sf storefront retail. The new facilities were intended to create a prominent and active gateway into the university and also respond to the materiality of the existing traditional campus architecture in a striking, modern way.

American School & University Magazine is the premier showcase celebrating the best in education design. This year, the panel of Architectural Portfolio judges selected 145 projects to be featured, of which only 18 received citations for outstanding design.
